: Looks as though there is now another new body-type. I just came from the new Gallery. Take a look at the Albino Marigold on the first page there. The body is basically albino, but shows a vestige of the tuxedo in the brownish coloration along the sides. I'm curious to know if this trait is simply a hybrid, or can be stabilized and bred true. Don? Anyone?

This trait can be stabilized and does breed true. I crossed a true breeding marigold albino male with ture breeding yellow tux female for the intial F1 generation. (For me the key to my sanity is to always make sure the strains used for crosses are true breding. If all the males in the F1 look alike I continue working the cross.) F2 breaks out into tux/non-tux phenotypes. Next it's a process of finding females in the F2 that carry the tux trait by mating male tux with seveal sisters and only working with the brood(s) that show 100% tux in the F3. BTW, the use of the "Flame" description I used in naming the guys I submitted to Greg refers to color. I was not aware of the use of this term to refer to body type until just a couple of days ago, sorry.
