Hi Karin, Glad to know you got the genetics worked out for the strain you were working with. One thing (of many) to consider is that the particular conclusions you reached will apply only to the specific strain of leopard green with which you are currently working. I have several strains of leopard greens on file that are homozygous for color and tail pattern. AZ has a “quirk” that I use to stabilize phenotypes I have not been able to stabilize as a homozygous strain in previous attempts. Whenever you find yourself working with a heterozygous strain that “is heterozygous for something” you will find that you can use males of the “something” phenotype to stabilize that “something” phenotype in 4 – 6 generations. For example I have a strain of mosaic grass green that is heterozygous for mosaic leopard green. (If I use a grass green male to father the generation there will always be a few leopard sons in the batch.) Now, if I switch to using leopard males to father each generation I can isolate and stabilize the leopard as a homozygous strain in 5 – 6 generations. I will be illustrating this “quirk” in pool 23. It is a neat trick to use once you see how it works.
