Okay... I think I may be giving up. :)
1) I bred a white tailed male Tux to a Female Tux.
2) *All* male children have yellow tails (4 males).
3) Bred a couple of those children together.
4) Their children *all* have white tails (4 males).
5) Bred a couple of those children.
6) One male with a solid yellow tail, and two males with a
yellow tail with a blue base.
Where the heck did the blue come from? :( Great-grandchildren showing a trait that has never appeared in their lineage before?
In Creatures2 genetics, there is a "Pigment Bleed Gene" that is composed of "rotation" and "swap".
It seems that the colors may be "rotating" in AZ fish (and/or mutations)!
