I forgot to mention plants and accessories.
I don't use many accessories. Only a few rocks for asthetic purposes.
I use a variety of plants. Some tall, some gravel huggers and a few in-betweens. In a tank the size I mentioned, there are probably 2 dozen total individual plants from 5 or 6 different varieties. They are just arranged in the usual way. Tall in back short in front and middle sized in the middle of the tank. Overall, the tank appears well planted but not crowded.
This is an unclear area to me. The effect that the number of plants have on the water chemistry changes with the number of plants in the tank, so I can't say for sure "add x plants for every 10 liters of water." Just make sure your tank is well planted with a good variety of natural plants. When I say "natural plants" I am referring to those from AZ and not accesories someone has made from plant images. I am also excluding the mekasia plant varieties. Don't put any of them in the tank.
