: : Hey Greg?

: : How many different tail patters have you noticed?

: : I've just started breeding Mosaics and Cobras and am having a difficult time discerning differences in patterns...

: : Thanks in advance. :)

: It looks to me like there are just two tail patterns: Small Spot, and Large Spot.

: I guess that you could say that there are three if you count "solid". I don't. I think there is a gene that determines if the pattern is displayed and a separate gene that tells what the pattern is (if the first gene allows it to appear).

I should have added that I think that the pattern is the same for the Mosaic and the Cobra.

The way I see it, the Cobra guppies that you get from AZ are simply Mosaics that have the "body pattern" gene in a state where the body pattern is displayed.

I guess I could also say that I believe that the Mosaic guppies are simply "regular" guppies with the "tail pattern" gene in a state where the tail pattern is displayed.

I view Tuxedo guppies the same way. I think that they are "regular" guppies with a "body color" gene activated.
