: : : I noticed that several of Don's cobras have the cobra body pattern without any pattern in the tails whatsoever--cobra or otherwise. Weird. I always thought the 2 patterns were genetically linked.

: : That reinforces the idea that there are separate genes for tail pattern and body pattern as well as tail color.

:
: By chance one of the first cobra strains I isolated and fixed was what I now call canary cobra. Cobra body pattern but clear tail. I used this strain in some of my first inter-color crosses and at the time was very pleased with the phenotype. Now I am back-tracking and re-introducing the cobra tail pattern into these strains.

I like them better with the pattern, myself, but those clear tails really are gorgeous too, with their vivid, striking colors!! Good work, Don! ::stands & applauds wildly::

I have seen some white albino cobras & mosaics turn out with a pale grey ticking pattern in the tails and either pale grey or red body pattern. Has anyone gotten them to more display melanistic ticking (body or tail) while still albino? One way or another, the effect is really neat looking against the bright or pale colors.

PEACE!
Mirra
